<td rowspan="5" align="left"><font size="4" color="Black">Welcome to buybears on-line, this is a Web site dedicated to Teddybears and will hopefully give you a great insight into the world of bears!!<br>The idea of teddybears originated from an incident involving President Theodore Roosevelt and a wild bear during a hunting expedition. While on this hunting expedition the President refused to shoot a bear which prompted a cartoon by Clifford K. Berryman which appeared in the Washington Post on 16 November 1902, the title being '<i>Drawing the Line at Mississippi</i>'. Soon after the cartoon appeared, Morris Michtom, a Russian emigré displayed a bear made by his wife Rose and labelled "Teddy's Bear" in the window of his New York store.
